Police: Driver involved in Jefferson Township hit-and-run located Tuesday

The driver involved in a hit-and-run crash with a stolen vehicle earlier this week in Jefferson Township was located Tuesday, Nov. 28, according to state police.

Donovan M. Philpot, 21, was taken into custody in Butler, Trooper Bertha Cazy, public information officer with Troop D, announced Wednesday.

Philpot was charged Tuesday with felony theft, misdemeanor accidents involving property damage, and summaries driving without a license and driving with a suspended license following the Monday morning crash.

According to charging documents, Philpot was driving a white 2015 Buick Verano when he rear-ended another vehicle on Bonniebrook Road at its intersection with Great Belt Road.

According to police, Philpot then fled the scene, but the other driver obtained a picture of the Buick’s license plate. The vehicle was purchased for one of Philpot’s relatives and was reported missing around 7 a.m. Monday, police said.

The vehicle was also located Tuesday, according to police.
