Miller Minutes

Miller Minutes with Butler Eagle reporter, Molly Miller

As I write this column, I’m listening to my Spotify Wrapped playlist.

For those who don’t know, the music app Spotify tracks what musical genres you listen to, how long you listen, and to whom you are listening. Then, at years end, they clue you in on your own listening patterns.

It’s a unique way to reflect on your year, so to demonstrate, I thought I’d share a few statistics with you:

√ Pop was the genre I listened to most.

√ I listened to music for 15,232 minutes out of the year. This is the equivalent to 10 straight days of listening!

√ My top artists were Taylor Swift (I was in the top 3% of her listeners), Zach Bryan (country), John Mayer (alternative rock), Stephen Sondheim (Broadway, as you recall I was in one of his musicals this year at the Musical Theatre Guild), and Fall Out Boy (punk rock).

√ The song I listened to most was “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More ‘Touch Me,’” by Fall Out Boy. According to the app, I listened to it 14 times.

It was fun this morning looking back over my year through music, especially since I’m now listening to primarily Christmas music (I’m sure that will be a topic of discussion in a future column).
