George L. Miller Jr., 77, of Saxonburg, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at Shelbourne Personal Care Home.

Born June 28, 1946, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late George L. Miller Sr. and MaryLou Rogers Miller Acquivita.

He worked as a coal miner for Fawn Mine 91. George was a member of Saxonburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company and the United Mine Workers Association (UMWA). He was a hard-working man who loved working in the coal mines and enjoyed hunting. George loved to socialize and spend time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Dora Miller, whom he married in 1985; his daughter, Amy (fiancé, Mike Friend) Short of Saxonburg; his son, George L. Miller, III “Hammer” of Butler; stepdaughters, Tammy (Randy) Rensel of Florida and Terry Curboy of Sarver; sisters, Brenda J. (Bill) Venesky of Saxonburg and Beverly J. (Dick) Diamond of Evans City; brother, James A. Miller of Gibsonia; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Betty Louise Miller.

MILLER — Friends of George L. Miller Jr., who died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
