Timothy D. Murray, 62, of Butler, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born Jan. 8, 1961, and was the son of Thomas and Harriet (Wray) Murray.

He was a 1978 graduate of Butler High School and earned a bachelor of business administration degree from Middle Tennessee State. He was employed at Lowe’s and previously at Verizon. He was a proud, active member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

He will be missed by family, friends and anyone who got the chance to meet and talk to him. He was always quick with a smile, a story to make you laugh and positive words of encouragement. The true love of his life was helping people realize their true potential — whether it was through helping mentor children in sports or his work in sales, he was always a positive and uplifting force.

He is survived by his dad, Thomas D. (Lana) Murray of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Gwendolyn Murray of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, James (Stephanie) Murray of Butler; two nephews, Matthew and Barry Murray; and a niece, Taylor McGhee.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, Harriet Wray Murray; and a sister, Cindy Murray.

MURRAY — Family and friends of Timothy Murray, who died Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a memorial held after at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A celebration of Tim’s life will be held in Tennessee at a later date.
