Grau

John B. Grau, 91, of Valencia, formerly of Middlesex Township, passed away on Thursday evening, Dec. 7, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

Born in Pittsburgh, on April 2, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Edna Schultz Grau.

John was a facility engineer for Bell Telephone at the northern district in Bellevue.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Mars United Presbyterian Church, where he was active on the A-Team. He sang with Butler Notables Barbershop Chorus and was a member of John E. Mair Lodge 729, F&AM and the Syria Shrine and Consistory.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen Marshall (Roger) of Slippery Rock, Linda Hawkins (Julius Forehand) of Biloxi, Miss. and Carol Sunday (Wayne) of Evans City; his granddaughters, Julie Sebock (Pete) and Jill Reed (Jeff); and his great-grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Sebock, Brock Reed and Abigail Marshall.

He was the brother of Audrey Negley, Janet Gratzer (Harold), Carol Pefferman and the late Dennis Grau.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen McCune Grau, whom he married on Aug. 9, 1952, and who died on June 27, 2021; and by a grandson, Michael Marshall.

GRAU — Friends of John B. Grau, who died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, will be received at Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10. Services will follow at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Brian Houser, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick. Memorials may be made to Mars United Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
