Seneca Valley teacher wins award for ‘shining light’ on antisemitism
The Shine a Light organization, which is committed to combating modern antisemitism, recently presented Seneca Valley Intermediate High School English teacher Michele Russo with the Antisemitism Civic Courage Award.
Russo is one of seven educators to receive the award for 2023, as well as five college and high school students.
The organization noted Russo’s efforts to combat hate through her curriculum. These include the creation of “Stronger than Hate” stations in the school library.
“To receive this award is quite an honor,” said Russo. “I am more motivated than ever to continue to move forward with projects and initiatives within my classroom, the district, and advance into more community engagement.”
