Mustello liquor license bill made law
A bill sponsored by state Rep. Marci Mustello, R-11th, regarding liquor licenses was signed into law Thursday, Dec. 14, by Gov. Josh Shapiro.
This legislation allows the transfer of a liquor license, which has received pre-approval, if a surcharge is paid, according to a news release by Mustello.
“The bill addresses complications in the process of transferring specific classifications of liquor licenses,” she stated. “It maintains Pennsylvania’s high standards for the operation of establishments, while removing barriers and reducing time to getting new businesses up and running.”
Eligible transfers include “hotels, restaurants, clubs, distributors, importing distributors, and retail distributions,” with a $15,000 surcharge for a license located in a first- through third-class county and a $5,000 surcharge in counties of the fourth through eighth class.
Mustello also noted that the legislation would help business owners looking to transfer liquor licenses in certain circumstances.
