Phyllis L. “Phyl” (Sutton) Brown, 88, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 12, 1935, in Cherry Tree, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul J. Sutton and the late Viola T. (Leamer) Sutton.

Phyl was a 1953 graduate of Indiana High School. She was an active member of Christ Community United Methodist Church in Butler. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a board member for Rainbows and a member of the Young Neighbors in Marion Center, Pa. Phyl was an avid Steelers fan, and also enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, upholstering furniture, ceramics and word search puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Randall D. Brown of Butler; her daughter, Pamela S. (Bill) Schiebel of Butler; six grandchildren, Catrina Brown (Todd) Reichel, Christopher (Serena) Brown, Melissa Schiebel (Ben) Blicha, Joseph Schiebel (Ariana Sanchez), Ann Schiebel (Scott Kaltenbach) and Joshua Schiebel; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Lillian Reichel, Addison and Logan Brown, and Mason and Elizabeth Blicha; one sister, Helen (Jim) Peterson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Phyl was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. 1st Class Jack K. Brown, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1953, and who passed away on Dec. 4, 2018; one brother; two sisters; and her daughter-in-law, Vickie L. Brown.

BROWN — Per her wishes, there will be no visitation for Phyllis L. “Phyl” (Sutton) Brown, who died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023.

She will be laid to rest along with her husband in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks you make a memorial contribution in Phyllis' name to Good Samaritan Hospice in care of the CLM Foundation, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
