The doors on the Main Street side of the Andrew Gomer Williams Post Office Building have been replaced, after months of the double doors being broken.

The doors of the Butler post office had been held open during the day with a bungee cord and locked at night, preventing access to the post office box section of the office after hours.

Kelli Kemp, a supervisor at the post office, said on Monday, Dec. 18, the doors had been replaced.

The doors broke over the summer, according to Celeste Phillips, a delivery supervisor at the post office. Earlier this month, she said the door had to be custom-made, which is why it took so long for it to be remedied.

A spokesman from the office of U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, said in early December the issue had been brought to the congressman’s attention.
