Giant Eagle to move headquarters to Cranberry Township

The 80,000-square-foot Giant Eagle in Seven Fields includes a gas station, wine and spirits store and deli. Giant Eagle has announced it will move its corporate offices to Cranberry Woods Business Park.

Giant Eagle announced a headquarters deal with McKnight Realty Partners on Wednesday, Dec. 20, with plans to move its corporate offices to Cranberry Woods Business Park this spring.

Previously, the 100,000-square-foot building in Cranberry Township was occupied by FedEx. At present, Giant Eagle’s headquarters are based in the RIDC O’Hara office park in Allegheny County.

On Wednesday, the grocery store giant announced the administrative team “will operate in a hybrid model with specific days spent in the office and others either working in a remote environment or spending time in our stores and distribution centers.”

“We believe that in-person collaboration is vital to grow our business and forge meaningful connections with our customers and each other,” said Giant Eagle CEO Bill Artman. “Our new headquarters will provide a variety of working and meeting spaces that will foster teamwork and creativity to help us continue to think like our customers, anticipating their needs and delivering solutions to make their lives easier.”

Cranberry Township manager Dan Santoro said he hopes the move will “fuel the strong economy in Cranberry Township.”

“We welcome them, their employees and any folks who are going to be relocating (to Cranberry) to support the corporate headquarters,” Santoro said.

“McKnight is thrilled to welcome a first-class organization such as Giant Eagle to the campus,” Izzy Rudolph, president and CEO of McKnight Realty, said in a statement on social media platform LinkedIn. “Cranberry Woods is the perfect home for companies looking for a modern, attractive workplace environment for their employees. We are excited to see Giant Eagle's recommitment to the region and their continued partnership with the community.”

Jordan Grady, president of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, said the lease agreement could have a positive impact on Cranberry’s economy.

“Obviously, this is huge news,” Grady said. “(Giant Eagle) is the region’s largest privately held company … based on what I’ve seen, their lease in Cranberry Woods is a significant square footage, which indicates that there are going to be lots of jobs coming into Cranberry Township.”

“This follows a common theme of companies relocating their corporate facilities into Butler County, where they can enjoy lower taxes and a higher quality of life,” Grady said.
