The Butler County Center for Community Resources handed out trays of cookies to pedestrians and drivers on Butler County's Main Street on Wed. Dec 20, in an effort to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

With the help of their workers, 750 trays of cookies were handed out within 22 minutes."We were able to hit traffic going up and down the street, making it very successful," said senior director of programs Hailey Merchant.

Merchant said that due to the peak in depression during the holidays, the cookie drive is important to raise suicide awareness and prevention for people who use the hotline.

This is the BCCCR's tenth year with the cookie donation drive, and it will likely occur next year on the Wednesday before Christmas.
