Criminal complaint details alleged altercation between Seven Fields mayor, wife
The Seven Fields mayor was threatened with a knife during an altercation with his wife that led to charges Saturday, Dec. 23, according to state police.
Mayor Dean Galitsis, 44, and Tami Galitsis, 43, were both arrested Saturday following the domestic incident, which left them both with physical injuries, police said.
An officer reported observing a bite mark and nail scrapes on Dean’s left arm. Tami had a cut on the inside of her lip and the left side of her face was red and swollen, according to charging documents.
Both Dean and Tami Galitsis were charged with misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment. Tami Galitsis also is facing a charge of misdemeanor terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another.
According to police, the altercation sprung from a heated argument about the couple’s household responsibilities.
Dean told police Tami became upset and agitated, brandishing a knife and threatening to stab him, documents showed. Police said the knife was eventually discarded in the sink, but Dean reported Tami threw a cookbook at him instead.
According to charging documents, Dean told police he attempted to physically intervene twice, and Tami scratched and bit him.
Documents indicate Tami told police Dean slapped her in the face and was “physically confrontational.”
A preliminary hearing for the couple is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 5 in front of Judge Kevin Flaherty.
