Eileen ‘Leah’ Morin
Eileen Marie Morin, 79, of Butler, passed on to eternity on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023.
Eileen, known as Leah to friends and family, was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Pittsburgh, to Ernest N. Chiappino and Verna M. Chiappino. Verna later married James F. Moran.
Leah served in the U.S. Navy and lived a life of devotion to her husband and her family, and to the community as a public servant with the Butler County Assistance Office.
Leah had a passion for gardening and loved traveling throughout the United States during the summers. She enjoyed spending warm spring and summer days in her garden and at Preston Park, where she was known as one of the Lilac Ladies because she cherished recovering long forgotten treasures that had been obscured in overgrowth along its paths and meadows.
Leah enjoyed quilting and created many treasures her friends and family will cherish for a lifetime, including an inaugural display at the Veterans Affairs Women’s Clinic in Butler. Leah was always active helping those in need and, before her health limited her, was active in her local diocese.
Leah is survived by her brothers, Danny and Ernie; sons, Douglas W. (Denise) Morin of Butler, Clifford E. (Denise) Morin of Chiefland, Fla., Shawn D. (Tanya) Morin of Butler and James D. (Natalie) Morin of Butler; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Leah was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Doug; her father, Ernest; her stepfather, James; her mother, Verna; her sister, Susan; and grandchild, Caleb.
