Paul Leroy Kaufman Sr., 87, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at his home in Murrells Inlet, S.C.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1936, in Butler, to the late Paul Isaac Kaufman & Helen Grace Walker Kaufman. Along with his parents, Paul is reunited in passing with his first wife, Jacqueline Barton Kaufman; and his brother, Ronald “Pete” Wayne Kaufman.

Paul graduated from Butler High School, Class of 1954, and went on to proudly serve our country in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, Paul went on to work for Armco Steel Butler Works and retired at the young age of 49. While in Pennsylvania, Paul stayed busy.

He was a member of many associations including the American Legion, Connoquenessing Fire Department, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Evans City, was a past president of the Armco Country Club and a member of the Masonic Temple in Butler.

Paul and his wife moved to Myrtle Beach in 1986, where he drove Sunway Charter Tour buses and went on to work for Myrtle Wood Golf Course for over 20 years. He was active in his community and was a past president of the Jensens Activity Center. He was a member of the Myrtle Beach First Presbyterian Church for over 38 years, where he proudly sang in the choir. In his free time, Paul enjoyed golfing, bowling and time spent at the beach. Above all else, Paul loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Paul’s memory are his adoring wife of over 38 years, Theresa Marie Stumpf Kaufman of Murrells Inlet; sons, Paul Kaufman Jr. and wife, Kristian of Aynor, S.C., and Brian Bajcz and his wife, Debbie of Ladson, S.C.; daughters, Yvonne Bajcz Humphreys and her partner, Robert Hogge, of McGrady, N.C. and Monica Bajcz Grey and her husband, Robert, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren, Nicole (Shawn), Allen (Katie), Benjamin (Sarah), Desiree (Justin) and Marissa (Domenick); great-grandchildren, Kayden, Khuyler, KC, Amos, Jackson, Marcel, Lorelei, Leonard, Declan, Johniene and Della; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Paul's life will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, S.C. The time and date will be announced when finalized. Inurnment within St. Michael Catholic Church Columbarium in Garden City, SC will be held at the convenience of the family.
