1 more new subscription needed to send 6 people in the Allegheny River
The Butler Eagle is one new subscriber away from sending six people into the freezing cold Allegheny River on New Year’s Day.
For the benefit of local news, three Butler Eagle employees with more cautious goals — Tracy Leturgey, Laura Crago and Joe Genco — have decided to lower their asks to participate in the Parker Polar Plunge tomorrow.
The assignment editor, podcast/video producer and copy desk chief will participate, if the Butler Eagle can reach a total of 24 new subscribers by the start of 2024.
With only one more new subscription, they will join Butler County Chamber President Jordan Grady and eagle staff writers Austin Uram and Eddie Trizzino in taking the plunge. Grady agreed to jump for 20 new subscribers, Austin for 15 and Eddie for 10.
“We appreciate all who are already subscribers, those who have subscribed and those who have encouraged family and friends to subscribe to the Butler Eagle as part of this campaign,” Leturgey said. “Your subscriptions — new and long-standing — help keep local news in the hands of our community.”
Leturgey said the Eagle’s newsroom works every day to provide relevant, informative and impactful journalism to residents of Butler County every day.
“We are the news organization that keeps tabs on happenings across Butler County communities, often bringing the happenings from not-so-well-attended municipal meetings to light and alerting others to need-to-know information,” she said.
Help the team exceed its goal and start the new year on a cold, but positive note by subscribing or asking a friend to subscribe today.
Digital subscriptions start at $8 per month, or buy a print subscription for $16 a month — roughly 60 cents per paper.
Additionally, Mikayla Torrence, social media specialist, will jump for 50 new subscribers, and four other V.I.P. staff members have agreed to join in the frigid fun for 1,000 new subscriptions.
Paula Grubbs, Butler Eagle community editor, will dip her toe in for 1,000 new subscribers. Staff writers, Molly Miller and Steve Cukovich, and web developer Rebecka Leasure will also participate for 1,000 new subscriptions.
