No injuries were reported when a vehicle crashed into the building of Butler’s Snack-N-Pack on Tuesday morning, Jan. 2 at 353 E. Jefferson St.

Co-owner of the business Kelly Schnur said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m., which was right in the middle of the business’s breakfast rush.

“We were all just in here working, and it was just a really loud noise,” Schnur said. “We get pretty busy for breakfast.”

Co-owner Ryan Covert said the crash happened when a the driver mistakenly hit the gas peddle instead of the brakes, throwing the vehicle forward, into the building through the wall to the left of the main entrance of the business.

“There is always a lot of loud banging noises in here from pans being dropped,” Covert said. “Those make a loud bang, too, but we started seeing dust in the air, and we knew something was off.”

Covert said thankfully there was no one standing on the other side of the wall at the time, and both occupants of the vehicle required no treatment.

“The first responders were here in the blink of an eye and after that everything was good,” Covert said. “I would like to thank them for their effort.”

Schnur said she wasn’t sure on how much the damages would cost, but she is hopeful that insurance would cover it.

The business closed down for the rest of the day, and Schnur expects the business to be back open Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Schnur and Covert did say regulars have been coming by to check it out and asking if the business is going to be offering a new feature in the future.

“Everyone has been coming in and saying they are glad that we are going to have drive-through now,” Schnur said with a laugh.
