John Hutchison Sr.
On Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, John Ellsworth Hutchison Sr., 87, passed away in Renfrew, surrounded by his family in prayer.
His courage and strength during his illness was an inspiration to all those who loved and cared for him. John was born the third child of Richard E. Hutchison and Elva C. (Henry) Hutchison. The death of his mother when John was nine had a profound effect on his commitment to family. He was also a committed worker. He retired from AK Steel after 30 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, JoAnn (Robison); their four children, John E. Hutchison Jr. (Mary Jo), Mary Williams (Vance), Judith Eicher (Robert) and Joseph Hutchison (Carolyn); his grandchildren, Brian Hutchison (Courtney), Ben Rettig (Brittany), Erin Cox (Tyler), Matthew Eicher (Samantha), Jacob Rettig (Nicole), Connor Hutchison and Jordan Hutchison; his two great-grandchildren, Nora and Hazel Cox; his sister, Marilyn Notaro; his stepsister, Marlene Bennett; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his stepmother, Helen (Knotick) Hutchison; his brother, Richard Hutchison (Gloria); his sister, Shirley Hoover (Walter); his stepbrother, Harry Hutchison; his daughter-in-law, Leslie Hutchison; and his brothers-in-law, Frank Notaro and Daniel Bennett.
HUTCHISON — The family of John Ellsworth Hutchison Sr., who died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, will greet friends from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday at All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler.
John will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Butler.
