State Sen. Vogel to run for reelection
State Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th, announced his intention to run for reelection.
“During my time as state senator, I’ve accomplished a lot of good for the communities in my district,” Vogel said in a news release Tuesday, Jan. 9. “Working with so many of my constituents we’ve brought jobs, improved infrastructure and made our district a better place to raise a family and start a business.”
The primary election is April 23.
During his time in office, Vogel has worked to eliminate the “summer gas” requirement and introduced legislation focused on sustaining jobs in his district.
Vogel has voted for funding for schools, increased broadband coverage and property tax cut for seniors.
“I’ve never forgotten where I come from and the experiences that have shaped me,” Vogel said. “I’m still the same farmer that you sent to Harrisburg to fight for you. I’ve used those experiences to inform my work as chairman of the Agriculture Committee and as the vice-chair of the Appropriations Committee.”
Vogel’s efforts to increase the accessibility of health care earned him the Legislator of the Year Award by the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health in 2022.
“Despite all we have done there is still much to do,” Vogel said. “I hope to leverage my experience to continue to deliver for our communities, ensure our taxes aren’t increased and keep Pennsylvania living within our means. I’m asking for the support of my constituents for my reelection to the Senate so I can keep our priorities a part of the agenda in Harrisburg.”
Vogel is a fourth-generation farmer. He and his wife, Sue, own and operate a farm in Beaver County.
He represents the 47th Senatorial District, which serves parts of Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties.
His current term ends Nov. 30.
