As Pennsylvania State Police continue to seek answers in the 2013 homicide of Robert Charles Gaurrich of Evans City, a $5,000 reward is being offered by Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers for information on the case.

Gaurrich, 45, who operated Bob’s Truck and Auto Repair Service on Route 68, was shot and killed on Jan. 11, 2013, according to state police.

Police said Gaurrich was gunned down between 4 and 5 p.m., but he was not found until after 11 p.m. that night with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police at that time said he was discovered face down on a limestone pile behind his business.

Police said they believed the victim was shot while inside the building and then attempted to flee through the main door.

Officers at the time said there was no sign of forced entry, and no information was released regarding a possible motive.

Missing from the scene was Gaurrich’s 30-30 caliber antique octagon barrel rifle, police said.

According to Crime Stoppers, the Winchester Canadian Centennial rifle is stamped 1867-1967, is 26 to 28 inches in length, with a 12-round capacity and a wooden stock with wood putty on the forearm. One of the rings for a sling was broken and the gun was missing a metal ring on the butt stock, Crime Stoppers said in a Tuesday post online, which also stated the weapon had iron sights, but no scope.

Anyone with information is urged to contact state police at 724-284-8100 or contact the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-4PA-TIPS or online at p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=107.

Callers to Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers could be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest, the solving of the crime or the location of a wanted person.
