Firefighters were able to prevent a vehicle fire from spreading to the nearby house early Thursday morning, Jan. 11, in Cranberry Township.

A Chevrolet pickup truck was destroyed, but the fire was quickly extinguished, allowing for only a small amount of damage to the exterior of the residence’s garage at 137 Oakview Drive, said Scott Garing, chief of fire and emergency services for Cranberry Township.

“It warped the garage door and melted some trim around it,” Garing said.

Crews were dispatched at 5:04 a.m. for the report of a vehicle fire. There were reports of explosions from the fire, but Garing explained it was the tires bursting from the heat.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes of crews arriving, Garing said.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown. The investigation will be handled by the owner’s insurance company, Garing said.
