Rockets too much for Fairview
Josh Book posted another double-double, this one worth 23 points and 11 rebounds, as host Slippery Rock earned a 54-45 boys basketball win against Fairview on Wednesday.
Max Kovacik scored 16 points for the Rockets (7-4) while Levi Prementine had six points, five assists and four steals.

South Fayette 60, Mars 58 — The Planets (7-5, 2-1) saw their five-game winning streak snapped by the visiting Lions.
Ryan Ceh scored 15 points in defeat while teammates Remi Black and Drew Navetta both netted 11.
Karns City 64, Union 48 — Shane Peters’ 21 points and 11 rebounds helped pave the way to this road victory for the Gremlins (8-3).
Jacob Callihan contributed 14 points and nine boards to the win, Taite Beighley 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Hobie Bartoe chipped in with six assists and four steals.
Union (8-6) led 15-12 after one quarter. The Golden Knights, who lost for the first time in five games, received 21 points from Hayden Smith and 11 courtesy of Dawson Camper.
Girls Wrestling
Butler’s Anastasia Manchester pinned Alyssa Tresco at 142 pounds, highlighting a 36-30 victory over Kiski Area.
The Golden Tornado’s other five victories came via forfeit — Lilli Burgardt (106 pounds), Brin Zehmisch (112), Haley Gruseck (118), Kaylee Christie (124) and Riley Peffer (170).
Bowling
Kelsee McConnell rolled a 547 series with a high game of 198 as Butler’s girls defeated Rochester, 7-0, at Baden Bowl.
Kaylee Kniess had a 500 series for the Golden Tornado (7-0).
Butler’s boys also swept the Rams, with Greg Wilbert posting a 650 series and high game of 256.
Colin Dorcy added a 540 series with a high game of 204. Brayden Weiland had a career-high 538 series with a high game of 192 for the Golden Tornado (5-2).
Freeport split its meeting with Armstrong at Wildlife Lanes, with the Yellowjacket girls sweeping the River Hawks while the boys were swept.
Hannah Windows paced Freeport’s girls with a 594 series and single game of 203. Teammates Kylie McConahy (592/248) and Mackensie Livingston (583/245) both contributed strong efforts.
Colin Cummings (597/209) led Freeport’s boys.
