Betsy Cable

Cable

Heaven gained a special angel on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, with Betsy Sue Cable, 58, of Mars.

Born Nov. 13, 1965, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Cable and Nina L. Peffer Cable.

Betsy was a member of Grace Church of Harmony. Her passion was competing on the Butler County Special Olympics Team in track and field, swimming, bocce and bowling — and she did so until her early 50s. She participated several times in the state summer Olympics games at Penn State University. Betsy was always on the move. She was happy horseback riding, motorcycle riding and going snowmobiling with her dad on the property at home. She was also happy doing volunteer work at the Zelienople library. She loved pizza, Pepsi with no ice and cookie dough ice cream.

Betsy was employed at many jobs through the years, and she was especially known for making the french fries at Burger King in Harmony for more than 20 years. She will be remembered as loving, happy and competitive.

Betsy was so happy and proud to be chosen to be a global messenger for Special Olympics Butler County. She lived by the Special Olympics motto, “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” Above all, Betsy loved her family, and her family adored Betsy. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Betsy leaves behind to cherish her memory her siblings, Nancy L. Cable, Jeff (Kim) Cable and Emil (Terrie) Cable; her nieces and nephews, Jared (Caitlyn), Marlee (Jacob) and Ian; and her great nieces, Eliza, Margot, Delaney and Siera.

The family would like to thank St. John Specialty Care Center and Lutheran Senior Life VNA for the love and care that was given to her.

CABLE — Services for Betsy Sue Cable, who died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, are private. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Burial Estates in Butler.
