FBI to hold elder fraud presentation, all are welcome
The Butler Area Public Library will host a forum on elder fraud at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 at the library, 218 N. McKean St., Butler.
Experts from the Federal Bureau of Investigation will present information on confidence schemes including romance, lottery, and sweepstakes, in addition to other scams.
Senior citizens lose more than $3 billion annually from scams, and are often targeted because they are more trusting and usually have assets like a home, financial savings and good credit, according to a news release from the library.
No registration is required for the free event.
