Butler County Symphony to perform ‘Romeo and Juliet’
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra invites the public to its first performance of the year with Sergei Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet,” set for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3 in the auditorium of Butler Intermediate High School.
The performance also highlights music from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Russian Easter Overture” and Reinhold Gliere’s “Concerto for Harp.”
The guest conductor is Cuban-born Grammy-nominated musician and conductor Andrés Cárdenes. The concert features his daughter, harpist Isabel Cárdenes, who is a student at Manhattan School of Music in New York.
Andrés Cárdenes is a professor of violin at Carnegie Mellon University School of Music, where he holds the Dorothy Richard Starling and Alexander Speyer Jr. Endowed Chair. He is also the current artistic director of the Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic.
