2 accused of dealing cocaine, fentanyl in Butler
The Butler County Drug Task Force charged two men with drug sales after crack cocaine and fentanyl were found in a city apartment Thursday, Jan. 18.
Joshua J. Space, 31, of Butler, and Edward P. Orianwo, 28, of Midland, were charged with three felony counts of drug sales following a warranted search at Space’s apartment on West New Castle Street.
Space also was charged with a count of misdemeanor drug possession.
According to charging documents, a state parole officer discovered a bundle of heroin/fentanyl on Space’s person Thursday. A bundle is 10 stamp bags.
County detectives and city police were asked to respond to the apartment, at which time, the investigating detective discovered a bag of rice in plain view, documents showed.
Detectives said rice sometimes is used to hide narcotics, and so a warrant was obtained to further search the apartment.
Documents showed 50 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl were found in the bag of rice. Additionally, police said they discovered 11.4 grams of suspected crack cocaine, $352 in cash from Orianwo, four cellphones and identification for Space in the apartment.
Space and Orianwo were in possession of two cellphones each, documents showed.
Both defendants were placed in Butler County Prison: Space in lieu of $50,000 bail and Orianwo in lieu of $100,000 bail. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled Jan. 29 before District Judge William Fullerton.
