2 injured in I-79 crash Friday in Jackson Township
Two people were injured after a crash on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township last week, according to state police.
The crash occurred in the southbound lanes near mile marker 84 at 1:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, when police said driver Jennifer L. Cooley, 36, of Wexford, lost control of her vehicle.
According to a crash report published Wednesday, Cooley was traveling north in her Kia Sorento and lost control as she was negotiating a left curve in the road.
Police said Cooley’s vehicle slid across the median and into the southbound lanes where it was struck by a Toyota Tundra driven by Larry D. Ferguson, 53, of Harmony. Documents showed Ferguson attempted to avoid the collision, but was unable to do so.
The crash report indicated Ferguson’s vehicle traveled off to the left side of the road after the collision, while Cooley’s went to the right.
Cooley was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital for suspected minor injuries, and Ferguson was taken by ambulance to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry for a suspected serious injury. Cooley and Ferguson were both transported by Harmony EMS.
Harmony Fire District also responded to the crash.
