Moniteau douses Fires

Catherine Kelly scored 17 points and Moniteau’s girls basketball team outlasted Forest Area, 47-37, Thursday night.

Cheyenne Curl had seven points for the Warriors, who took a 14-point lead into the final quarter. Kaylie Rooke paced Forest with 24 points.

Mars improved to 9-8 overall, 5-3 in section play with the win.

Karns City 36, Brookville 35 — Brooklynn Taylor scored 15 points and Naomi Venesky added 11 for the Gremlins in this road win.

E.Wonderling led Brookville with 19 points.

Boys Basketball

Moniteau had 15 players score points, led by David Dessicino’s 12, in a 91-27 triumph over Venango Catholic on Wednesday night.

David Martino and Andrew Zepeda scored 11 points each for the Warriors, who led 54-16 by halftime. Konner Beichner scored 16 points for Venango Catholic.

Wrestling

Cam Elliott, Derrick Glover, Wyatt Foster and Parker Anderson earned pins for Knoch in a 65-9 dual match win over Summit Academy on Wednesday. Summit Academy forfeited the first six bouts.

Owen Layhew won by technical fall for Knoch, establishing a school record for wins in that category. The Knights will compete in the Sharon Duals on Saturday.

Rifle

Butler edged Armstrong by a 798-58x to 797-58x score.
