PennWest appoints interim diversity/inclusion officer, provost Thursday

Pennsylvania Western University appointed an interim chief diversity and inclusion officer and interim provost during a Council of Trustees held at the PennWest California campus Thursday, Jan. 25.

James Fisher was appointed interim provost and vice president of Academic Affairs. He previously served as senior associate provost for Academic Administration at PennWest.

Sheleta Camarda-Webb will be taking the diversity and inclusion officer’s post, having 30 years experience as a professor at the California campus, according to a news release.

Camarda-Webb also served the California campus as director of multicultural affairs and diversity education and as interim chief diversity and the equity and inclusion officer. In addition, she has served as the assistant vice president for assessment and external relations at PennWest.

Council of Trustees Chairperson Kathy Pape also indicated at the Thursday meeting the search for PennWest’s president is ongoing.

“We are continuing to make progress in the search for the next president of PennWest,” she said. “Greenwood Asher & Associates has been retained to assist in the process. An inclusive search committee is being formed, and we are looking forward to wide engagement in the process.”
