Mars’ Ceh erupts in section win

Ryan Ceh took over Tuesday night as Mars hosted West Allegheny, turning in a career-high 45 points in an 83-58 win over West Allegheny. The wiry senior added 13 rebounds for the Planets (10-9, 4-3) in the WPIAL Section 4-5A victory.

Will Wilson and Remi Black chipped in with eight points each.

North Catholic 90, Hopewell 30 — The Trojans poured in 14 three-pointers in an impressive showing Tuesday night. Joe Waskiewicz, Max Hurray, Brady Koziara, and Jason Fredericks had 13 points apiece in the WPIAL Section 2-4A triumph.

By winning its seventh game in eight tries, North Catholic moved to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in the conference.

Central Catholic 60, Seneca Valley 25 — Following a comeback win over Butler their last time out, the Raiders (6-13, 2-5) ran into a stout defensive effort by the WPIAL Section 1-6A leaders.

Kai West paced Seneca Valley with nine points, but the team’s output was its lowest of the season and the 35-point difference was its largest in a defeat this go-round.

Girls Basketball

Karns City raced out to a 25-7 advantage by halftime and Naomi Venesky scored a game-high 16 points as the Gremlins beat Clarion Limestone, 46-16.

Savanna Prescott added 11 points in the victory and Brooklynn Taylor had another eight.

Armstrong 53, Mars 35 — Alexis Cashdollar scored 17 points, but the Planets dropped this decision Monday night. Mars trailed by only five points through three quarters before being outscored 17-4 in the fourth.
