SRU men defeat Edinboro on the road
EDINBORO — After building a big lead, the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team held off an Edinboro rally for an 81-74 road victory Monday night.
The Rock (9-10, 7-6) led by as many as 17, but Edinboro (5-14, 4-9) puilled within three with three minutes to go. That was the closest the Fighting Scots would get.
Maceo Austin scored 23 points and collected eight rebounds and three steals for The Rock. Ike Herster scored 18 points and Bobby Clifford 15. Clifford added eight rebounds in his first start of the season.
Bernie Blunt scored 21 points for Edinboro.
Edinboro 75, SRU 58 (women) — The Rock slipped to 2-14 overall, 2-11 in PSAC play. Kristina Donza led SRU with 17 points, including three treys. Deryn Moye posted a career-high 12 points that included three treys as well.
Regan Atkins contributed 12 points and seven boards for The Rock.
Edinboro (10-8, 8-5) was led by Gillian Fiser and Morgan Gentile with 21 points each. Ashten Boggs added 20 points and seven rebounds.
Both SRU teams will host Mercyhurst on Wednesday, the women’s game at 5:30 p.m., the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
