Gremlins net 86 points in win
Taite Beighley scored 32 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed six rebounds as Karns City won a shootout, 86-77 over host Redbank Valley in boys basketball play on Thursday.
Luke Cramer added 16 points and seven boards for the Gremlins (12-6), Jacob Callihan 15 points and five boards and Shane Peters 14 points and eight boards.
KC led 45-36 at halftime.
Girls Basketball
Lyndsay Luff had a game-high 20 points for North Catholic as it picked up a 65-11 win at home against Valley Thursday night. The WPIAL Section 1-4A-leading Trojanettes (13-5, 11-0) limited the Vikings to four first-half points while Lauren Reitz (14 points) and Brady Wehner (10) posted double-figures.
Valley has been held under 20 points in each of its last 14 outings.

Mars 41, Shaler 38 — The Planets (9-9, 5-4) improved to 3-2 in home section play with this win over the Titans. Vita Vargo totaled 17 points and sank three treys, while Cecilia Christy had 10 points.

Karns City 42, Aquinas Academy 37 — Savanna Prescott scored a game-high 17 points for the Gremlins (13-5).
Swimming
Raely FaJohn (200-yard freestyle, 100 butterfly) and Mollie Massella (50 freestyle, 500 freestyle) each had a pair of individual wins as Slippery Rock’s girls swimming team defeated Sharon, 107-59, at home on Thursday night.
Tessa Szymanski (200 IM), Maddy Gauselmann (100 freestyle), and Kendall Krenn (100 backstroke) also had first-place finishes.
Szymanski and Gauselmann were also part of the winning 200 and 400 medley relays. Season Grant and FaJohn joined them in the latter, while Elise Cagle and Kaitlyn Parson were part of the former.
Sharon 71, Slippery Rock (boys) 43 — Moniteau’s Mason Birckbichler had first-place finishes in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Cody Hartle swam the uncontested 100 butterfly in 1:00.76.
Along with Joey Dropp, Kevin Bowser, and Grant Kingston, Hartle was part of the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
North Hills 97, Mars (boys) 65 — Preston Heynes won three events for the Planets in a section loss.
North Hills 98, Mars (girls) 79 — Emily Mueller, Bryn Wilson, Reagan Connelly, and Sarah Maloney had first-place finishes in this defeat.

Seneca Valley doubled up Mt. Lebanon, 44-22, with pins being earned by Cole Corrigan, Connor Smith, Zachary Hill, Brooks Beres, Corey Wolfe and Thomas Wuycheck.
