Robert Fink

Fink

Robert V. Fink, 90, formerly of Butler, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, at Magnolia Place of Saxonburg.

Born Nov. 22, 1933, in Clarion, he was a son of the late Raymond and Twila Davis Fink.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Signal Corps division in Germany in the late 1950s.

Bob retired from the Butler Eagle composing room after a 35-year career, during which he was at the forefront of technological advancements in his field. After retiring, Bob enjoyed driving a school bus for a special-needs child for several years.

An avid sports fan, there was no offseason for him as he was a true fan of all sports, especially baseball, football or basketball. He could be found watching college and professional sports almost every day, especially his favorite teams, the Pirates and Steelers. From the late 1980s through the early 2000s, Bob was regularly found at his Clearview Flea Market stand, where he dealt with sports memorabilia and shared his expertise in sports trading cards.

Bob will be remembered for his innate stubbornness, mischievous grin and bright blue eyes.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley A. Campbell Fink; three children, Becky L. Farmer of Butler, Robert “Rob” Fink (Amy Cunningham) of Saxonburg and Eric M. Fink (Jennifer Hartle) of Saxonburg; one brother, Don Fink (Roberta) of Rimersburg; five grandchildren, Aimee Farmer Kalafut (Josh) and Jeremy, Ethan, Marilyn and Evan Fink; and two great-grandchildren, Bria and Madi. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
