Monday death of Mercer County man under investigation
The Mercer County coroner and the City of Sharon police department are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man who was found injured Monday evening, Feb. 5, according to a news release.
Officials said Edward Reedy, of Sharpsville, was found unresponsive with a wound to his head after crews responded to a trespassing complaint around 8:30 p.m. on New Castle Avenue in Sharon.
Attempts to resuscitate Reedy were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m., coroner John A. Libonati said Tuesday.
Libonati said it has not been determined if the head wound was directly connected to Reedy’s death.
“Following the initial coroner examination and preliminary testing as well as the events leading to the death of Mr. Reedy being unclear, it was determined that further investigation was necessary in the determination of cause and manner of death,” the release said.
A forensic autopsy has been scheduled to be performed Wednesday by a forensic pathologist from the Erie County coroner’s office.
Reedy’s cause and manner of death will be released upon its determination, according to the release.
