SR boys cruise past Wilmington
Josh Book scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Tuesday night as Slippery Rock’s boys basketball team rolled past Wilmington, 73-28.
Max Kovacik added 16 points, six assists and five rebounds. He connected on all four of his 3-point shots. Levi Prementine netted 13 points.
The Rockets led 48-11 at halftime and 69-15 through three quarters. Caleb Rossi paced Wilmington with 12 points.
North Catholic 103, Blackhawk 62 — Max Hurray scored 34 of his 39 points in the first half for the Trojans, who led 76-32 at the intermission. He connected for six treys. Eli Stofko netted 14 points for North Catholic.
Nick Larson and Jason Siket scored 12 points each for the Trojans. Justin Shafer led Blackhawk with 21 points.
Chartiers Valley 65, Mars 50 — The Planets (10-11, 4-5) slipped below .500 with this loss. Ryan Ceh scored 31 points and Remi Black seven for Mars.
Chartiers Valley had a 33-29 lead at halftime before outscoring the Planets 19-2 in the third quarter. Mars closes the regular season at Moon on Thursday night.
Greensburg Salem 48, Freeport 46 — Gavin Glista paced the Yellowjackets with 17 points and Freeport took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter, only to lose by two.
AJ Torpley led Greensburg Salem with 20 points.
Imani Christian 77, Summit Academy 34 — The Knights fell behind 42-17 by halftime and never recovered. Khalil Ollie scored 11 points to lead Summit.
Dayshawn Burnett led three Imani Christian players in double figures, scoring 14 points.
Girls Basketball
Ava Strauser and Kya Wetzel scored six points each for Union/A-C Valley, which dropped a 74-23 decision to Redbank Valley. Maddy Dehart had six rebounds for the Falcon Knights.
Elaina Carrico scored 21 points and Mylee Harman 19 for Redbank.
Wrestling
Paul Kuczynski, Cam Elliott, Wyatt Foster and Brady Pflugh all had pins as Knoch defeated Brashear, 53-24, on Monday.
Brayden McGowan won by technical fall. The Knights return to action on Wednesday night, traveling to West Shamokin.
Swimming
Slippery Rock was swept by Titusville, the girls dropping a 96-87 decision, the boys a 125-20 verdict.
Mollie Massella won the 200 and 400 freestyle, Tess Szymanski the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, Raely FaJohn the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Rocket girls. Cody Hartle won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Rocket boys.
