Mendelssohn Choir to perform in Pittsburgh
On March 9 and 10, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh will present “Coming Home.” The event is described as “a musical journey exploring the yearning inside all humans to find a place to call home.”
The free concert will feature a dynamic repertoire curated and conducted by the choir’s new music director, Daniel Singer, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair on March 9 and at the East Liberty Presbyterian Church on March 10.
The choir’s 140 singers are community members from diverse backgrounds and professions who give of their time and talent to create powerful, unexpected and deeply moving moments of musical discovery, a news release from group said.
The program features an adventurous range of classical and contemporary choral works that evolve over the course of the concert, both musically and thematically. The works are shorter in length and grouped together in sets that complement each other and engage the audience with new sounds, texts and perspectives.
