More emergency response departments in county receive grants

In addition to the emergency response departments in the 8th and 11th Legislative Districts that received state Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grants, 15 departments in the 12th and 17th districts also received money. All told, departments in Butler County received more than $1.02 million in grants.

Departments in the 17th District that received funds include Eau Claire Volunteer Fire Department and Relief Association, $13,061; Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company, $14,034; Karns City Regional Ambulance Service, $15,000; Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company, $14,228.68; Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department, 413,839.63; Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team, $14,617.72; and Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team EMS, $9,988.

Departments in the 12th district that received funds include Adams Area Fire District, $17,995; Callery Volunteer Fire Company, $15,784; Cranberry Township Emergency Medical Service, $15,000; Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, $16,951; Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department, $16,951; Harmony Emergency Medical Service, $10,000; Harmony Fire District, $29,951; and Quality Emergency Medical Service, $15,000.

The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program makes an annual grant program available for volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads.

All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not general fund tax revenue.
