Rock basketball swept at Gannon

ERIE — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team dropped a 94-91 decision at No. 7 Gannon on Wednesday night.

The Rock (11-12, 9-8) still occupies fourth place in the PSAC West standings with five games to play. Gannon — which defeated SRU by a combined eight points in two games this season — improved to 22-2 overall, 16-2 in league play.

Jomo Goings paced five SRU players in double figures, scoring 25 points, grabbing six rebounds and notching three steals. Sheick Samoura scored 17 points and snared five rebounds while Maceo Austin had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Luke Howes and Ike Herster chipped in with14 and 11 points, Herster dishing out four assists.

Josh Omojafo netted 22 points while Mike Montano had 13 point and 12 rebounds for Gannon.

Gannon 85, SRU 45 (women) — Regan Atkins score 17 points and had five rebounds for The Rock (2-18, 2-15). Kristina Donza added 14 points.

No. 5 Gannon improved to 25-2 overall, 17-1 in PSAC action. Bri Claxon paced five Golden Knight players in double figures with 16 points.

Both Rock teams return to action Saturday at Morrow Field House against Pitt-Johnstown. The women’s game is at 1 p.m., the men’s game at 3 p.m.
