Pool plastering project to be bid out
It has been about a decade since the pool at Alameda Waterpark has been replastered, but Butler County Parks and Recreation plans to put a replastering project out to bid soon.
Lance Welliver, director of Butler County Parks and Recreation, said the park advisory board discussed the project at a meeting Wednesday, Feb. 21. The water park got some other improvements last year, and Welliver said the replastering should take place before the pool season begins in late May.
“Right now that's the major improvement,” Welliver said. “We did some improvements last year; we did the flooring in the bath house and splash pad.”
Alameda Park shelter reservations also begin March 1, Welliver said, which is always an eventful day for Butler County Parks and Recreation.
“We have people who wait in line quite a while to try to get their date,” Welliver said.
Welliver also said parks and rec received money from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to help pay for projects in Connoquenessing and Harmony.
According to Welliver, Harmony received about $50,000 through the grant to install new playground equipment.
Connoquenessing also received $90,000 from the DCNR to install a nature-themed playground at Connoquenessing Borough Park. Welliver said the county parks and rec department helped put in a walking trail at the park a few years ago, and the playground equipment will be another component to the park.
“We were pretty fortunate to get that,” Welliver said. “We're looking forward to getting that project in.”
