22-year-old killed in South Bend Township after colliding with coal truck

A man died in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning, Feb. 27 in South Bend Township in Armstrong County.

At 6:30 a.m., Nicholas D. Difilippo Jr.’s Chevrolet Spark collided with a tri-axle coal truck, operated by Savayka, LLC of Northern Cambria. Difilippo, 22, of South Bend Township, was pronounced dead at the scene by Armstrong County deputy coroner Timothy Graham.

The crash occurred in the vicinity of the South Bend Limestone Company on Route 156. State police on the scene said Difilippo was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.

State police and the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
