Kelly’s challenger removed from ballot

Tim Kramer

Butler County resident Tim Kramer has been removed as a candidate for the 16th Congressional District in the April 23 primary in which he was challenging U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly for the Republican Party nomination.

Kramer, of Forestville, near Slippery Rock, was removed Tuesday, Feb. 27, the day a hearing on an objection to his nomination petition was scheduled in Pittsburgh. The objection was filed Feb. 20, which was the last day to file objections, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State.

According to his Facebook post, Kramer said 329 of the 1,235 signatures on his petition were challenged, and a petition to set aside his petition was granted. Petitions must have at least 1,000 signatures.

The remaining challenger to Kelly is from Democratic candidate Preston Nouri, of Erie.
