Miller Minutes

Miller Minutes with Butler Eagle reporter, Molly Miller

It’s Leap Day! This day only comes once every four years, so I suggest you live it up. Although I’m not aware of any events specific to the special day, I do know some interesting facts.

Did you know there is an Irish tradition that Leap Day is the only time a woman can propose to a man? Under the title “Bachelor’s Day,” the tradition is rumored to have started because of St. Bridget petitioning St. Patrick for this allowance because men are too slow to propose. Take note fellas; this is an age old problem.

Additionally, if your birthday is on a Leap Day, you are “technically” only as old as the amount of times Leap Day occurs. This is not a scientific fact; I just like to tell this to people.

While some debate the necessity of Leap Day, I contend that it could potentially throw the seasons out of whack. Not that Western Pennsylvania weather patterns need any help on that front.

In all seriousness, you should recognize Leap Day in some special way, shape or form. It is rarer than Christmas, after all.
