Knoch grad Traggiai honored by AMCC
ERIE — Knoch graduate Caden Traggiai has been named second team, All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in four events as a member of Penn State Behrend’s men’s swimming team.
Traggiai earned second team in the 500-yard freestyle, taking the silver medal at the conference championships. He is second team in the 1,650-yard freestyle, also claiming silver at the AMCC Championships.
He swam a leg of the silver medal-winning 400-yard free relay and 800-yard free relay as well, earning second-team honors in both events.
Priester impressive in season debut
BRADENTON, Fla. —Quinn Priester needed only 19 pitches to retire all six hitters he faced Wednesday during the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 5-3 Grapefruit League loss to the Detroit Tigers.
Tsung-Che Cheng and Connor Joe homered for the Pirates. Baseball America ranks Cheng as the Pirates’ seventh-best prospect.
Pittsburgh (1-4) travels to Sarasota to play the Baltimore Orioles at 1:05 p.m. Thursday. Paul Skenes is expected to start for the Pirates.
