Butler Township commissioners plan meeting for road realignment project
Prior to work beginning on the Armco Drive realignment project April 1, a meeting is planned for 6 p.m. March 20 at the Butler Township Municipal Building where more information will be shared on the construction.
Township commissioners awarded the $3.39 million road construction project to Frank J. Zottola Construction on Jan. 15 — work that will realign the intersection of Hansen Avenue, Armco Drive and Whitestown Road.
Tom Knights, Butler Township manager, said a portion of Armco Drive will be closed starting April 1, and residents living nearby specifically are being invited to the meeting.
“That's going to happen for anybody with a vested interest in how that project is going to unfold,” Knights said. “We have a tentative schedule from the contractor.”
In other news from the Monday, March 4, Butler Township commissioners meeting, council reviewed a tax assessment appeal filed by Home Depot.
Knights said on Tuesday that the commissioners voted to approve the tax assessment appeal, lowering the common level ratio from 7.9% to 6.5% incrementally over a three-year period.
“The reason we had the meeting last night is because we want to get those assessment appeals approved and moving as quickly as we can,” Knights said.
According to Knights, Home Depot filed the appeal in 2022.
The commissioners also approved a property easement, allowing electric company workers to service an electric box set to be installed at the planned recreation complex near Pullman Center Business Park, which will placed in the right of way. Knights said there is already a transformer installed at the project site.
