Erin Zito
Erin Jennifer Gerstner Zito, of Cabot, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, after a brief illness. She died peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family. She was 51.
Erin was born on July 15, 1972, and was a lifelong resident of Butler County. She graduated from Butler High School in 1990 and eventually settled in Cabot. She was a naturally gifted equestrian in her youth and loved to hang around at the stables. She married Andrew Zito on May 2, 1992.
She worked for a time as a dental assistant before she and Andy co-founded a successful hardwood flooring business. But her favorite job ever was as a pub trivia host, where her big personality, sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humor made her a fan favorite in the trivia community. She loved her trivia players very much.
She was a skilled artisan and a gourmet chef. Her home décor reflected her unique personality, and her beautiful kitchen was her pride and joy. She spent hours there, perfecting her recipes, baking and canning. If you got a batch of Erin’s cookies for Christmas, you would be eating very well that holiday season.
Her house was welcoming and warm, boisterous and bustling with friends, friends of her kids, and many, many pets. It was always a fun place to be.
Erin is survived by her mother, Karen Gerstner of Herman; husband, Andrew Zito of Cabot; her children, her three shining stars, Abe (Elly) Zito, Isaac Zito and Annalie Zito, all of Butler; niece, Rachel Gray-Williams of Carterville, Ill.; siblings, Kristin Lehere of Winnetka, Calif., and Matthew Gerstner Gray (Shannon) of Butler; and her faithful beagle-Shiba Inu mix, Lizzie.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Gerstner; and her brother, Daniel Gerstner.
She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
