County pair helps Thiel score win
GREENVILLE — Butler graduate Kaleb Proudfoot and Seneca Valley graduate Will Zimmerman contributed to Thiel College’s 3-0 win over Wells Express recently.
Proudfoot tallied five kills, eight blocks and three digs while Zimmerman registered five kills and four digs.
Groves nets 3 points in lacrosse victory
PITTSBURGH — Junior attack Meah Groves, a Seneca Valley graduate, scored a goal and had two assists in Grove City College’s 16-3 women’s volleyball victory over La Roche on Thursday.
Butler graduate Tori Stevenson scored a goal and Seneca Valley graduate Elyse Kiggins played the first half in goal, earning the win. She had two saves.
3 Mars youths at hockey nationals
ADAMS TWP — Mars eighth-graders Brooklyn Ligda and Ryan Aufderheide, and seventh-grader Dalton Julius will be playing in the Chipotle-USA Hockey National Championships as members of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Hockey teams.
Ligda, a forward, will play for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Girls 14U team in the Girl;s Tier I tourney April 2-7 in West Chapel, Fa.
Defensemen Aufderheide and Julius will play for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Youth 13O team in the Tier I event April 2-7 in Plymouth, Mich.
York, Brown winners in harness racing
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Aintbluenomore, owned and trained by Mitchell York of of Cranberry Township, won an $11,900 Conditioned Pace in harness racing action Friday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Elsewhere on the card, Brady Brown of Slippery Rock drove Cirris De Vie to victory against 7-1 odds in a $7,500 Conditioned Pace.
