Man stabbed multiple times Friday in Butler Township, suspect denied bail

A man was stabbed multiple times Friday, March 15, following an altercation at a residence in the 100 block of Whitestown Road in Butler Township, according to police.

Township police arrested Marcos Roman, 42, of Lyndora, Friday in connection with the stabbing of Dalon Cager, 21, with a knife Friday evening.

Cager was taken by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital with stab wounds to his chest and torso.

Roman was charged Sunday with felonies criminal attempt to commit voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault, misdemeanors simple assault and reckless endangerment and summary harassment.

According to court documents, a witness said the altercation began after Roman was asked to leave the Whitestown Road residence Friday. Roman left, but returned that evening, when he was asked to leave again by Cager as an argument ensued outside the home, police said.

Roman stabbed Cager with a multicolored knife that he is known to carry, witnesses told police. The men were separated by witnesses, and Roman left the scene in a red and gold Ford station wagon, documents show.

Officers said they were dispatched to the scene at 6:13 p.m and discovered Cager with multiple stab wounds. Cager was able to identify Roman as the man who stabbed him, police said.

A witness said Roman was wearing a red and black hoodie at the time of the stabbing and would likely be found at Greenview Apartments in Butler, documents showed.

Shortly after the stabbing, police said Roman was located in the parking lot of the apartment complex and was discovered to have a multicolored knife covered in blood. Documents showed Roman banged his head off a police cruiser during his arrest, and his blood got into the back seat of the cruiser.

Roman was arrested Friday and placed in Butler County Prison. He was denied bail Saturday following arraignment by District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz. His preliminary hearing is scheduled Thursday before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
