Edmund Schuster
Edmund Nikolaus Schuster, 91, of Zelienople, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
Born on Jan. 3, 1933, in Kempten, Germany, he was the son of Nikolaus and Balbina Schuster. Edmund grew up in difficult times during World War II in Germany. He attended university for mechanical engineering in Switzerland, and focused his career in the iron and steel industry. He immigrated to the United States after college and became a U.S. citizen.
Edmund became an engineer in the Pittsburgh area. Some of his interesting projects included commissioning the first ever diesel locomotives for the Indian Railways, for which he resided in India for several years, and designing and constructing various steel-related facilities in the United States and around the world. He was proud of his work and the opportunity to travel and work in many different parts of the world. In his final years, he enjoyed living locally and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a passion for ancestry and preserved the family history in many writings.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Schuster, who passed away in 2013. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helga Bader and Irmgard Effenberger, both of Kempten, Germany. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Christian E. Schuster, and his wife, Alison E. Schuster, of Zelienople, and grandchildren, Nikolaus A. Schuster, Dalryn K.J. Schuster and Christian C. Schuster; and a daughter, Susan E. Della Toffalo, and her husband, Douglas Della Toffalo, of Harmony; and grandchildren, Cara J. Della Toffalo and Laurel R. Della Toffalo.
Edmund signed all of his special occasion cards with “All the Best and All my Love.” From his family to his career, Edmund truly lived a life full of things that were “All the Best.”
SCHUSTER — Services for Edmund Nikolaus Schuster, who died Sunday, March 10, 2024, will be held privately by the family. Edmund will be laid to rest in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Zelienople.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Edmund’s honor to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Zelienople.
