Donald Dailey

Dailey

Donald Price Dailey, 92, of Fairview, Texas, formerly Valrico, Fla., and Gibsonia, Pa., died on Monday, March 18, 2023, after a several-month battle with mesothelioma.

Born on March 4, 1932, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Richard O. and Madolyn M. Price Dailey.

Don married his high school sweetheart, Olive, on July 4, 1953. Until her death in 2005, they took many vacations, long road trips and as many cruises as possible. Don enjoyed woodworking and made many pieces of furniture, winning a blue ribbon award for one of his pieces. Don became a member of John E. Mair Lodge 729, F&AM in 1958 at the age of 26, serving as Master from 1971 to 1972. He was a contract unit manager with Johns Manville until he retired in 1992.

On Jan. 1, 2011, Don met Joan Charles at a New Year's Eve party in Fairview, Texas. They married on Oct. 9, 2016. Don and Joan lived at Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club in Fairview, where he enjoyed many activities including line dancing, Zumba, Drumba, and joined Joan in a few variety show acts.

He was a good cook, but enjoyed dining out, especially at his favorite spot, Bonefish Grille, for salmon and Manhattans. He loved coming home to Pittsburgh a couple of times a year to visit his daughter, Pam, and never missed a class reunion with his classmates from Mars High School, Class of 1950.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Olive Powers Dailey; and one brother, Thomas Dailey. He was the devoted and loving father of Pamela Dailey (Adrian Amstutz) of Allison Park; beloved husband of Joan Charles-Dailey of Fairview, Texas; and brother of Richard Dailey (Alice) of Missoula, Mont., and Robert Dailey (Sherry) of Fairview, Texas.
