Adams Township park getting new pickleball, basketball courts
ADAMS TWP — The township’s community park will receive some new features in the coming months.
At their meeting on Monday night, March 25, supervisors accepted a bid from Sarver-based Holbein Inc. to spearhead some significant upgrades to the park, located behind the township’s municipal building on Valencia Road.
These upgrades will include four new pickleball courts, a new road and additional parking. Holbein also will move the park’s basketball courts to a new location near the splash pad and resurface the old courts’ location into parking for the park’s memorial pavilion.
“We've already put in an ADA-compliant sidewalk ramp up to (the memorial pavilion),” board chairman Russell Ford said. “Now there will be more parking for the memorial pavilion. So we’ll just refunction it.”
Holbein’s bid, which came in at $842,643, was the lowest of 10 submitted.
“Holbein did our last project for the splash pad, and we were very, very pleased with them,” Ford said.
Township representatives could not pin down a timeline for the project to begin. However, township engineer Richard Craft said the timetable would depend on when Holbein received their notice of award for the bid, as well as their work schedule.
The park’s first set of pickleball courts were installed in 2022, and the splash pad was installed in 2023. The park also features a 1.3-mile walking trail, a playground, two baseball fields, a softball field, two T-ball fields, two basketball courts, and five pavilions.
