CRANBERRY TWP — In 2025, pickleball enthusiasts will be able to play at the Cranberry Township Community Park.

On Thursday, March 28, supervisors unanimously approved two measures to improvement the township’s community park as well as develop two pickleball courts.

“We’re going to be working with consultants and staff who will develop constitution documents to guide the public pickleball courts at the community park behind the fire station on Route 19,” said Bruce Hezlep, supervisors vice chairman.

The board approved $20,000 for engineering company Herbert, Rowland & Grubic to begin designing the new courts.

Along with building the new pickleball courts, the township also will be looking to make improvements to the existing tennis courts, basketball court and sand volleyball courts, as well as improving parking for the facilities.

The estimated cost for two new courts and improvements to the park is $500,000. Construction is estimated to begin in late summer or early fall, according to assistant township manager Kyle Beidler.

The project is estimated to be finished in 2025.

To offset some of the cost, the board also unanimously voted to apply for a $250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for funding to be used toward the construction of court complex improvements at the community park.
